Facebook Freakout Continues – Charles Snyder Raw #46. Today I continue discussing the Facebook fallout from the Cambridge Analytica scandal. So if I may be honest here, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal for small business owners. Since that is the case, I see Facebook’s reaction as simply a knee-jerk reaction.
Legalities or ethical?
Basically, it’s kind of like cutting your finger off because you have a hang-nail. But be that as it may, Mark Z. and the Facebook Funky-bunch are scrambling to do damage control. Because if you want to get right down to it, Cambridge Analytica simply used what Facebook allowed.
Social media as a political weapon
So here’s the big picture for you. Cambridge Analytica is a British-owned company that does political research. And the lynch-pin in all this is that President Trump’s team used their services to get elected in 2016.
First of all, Trump winning has sent a large portion of the left into a tizzy. Silicon Valley and big tech companies such as Facebook and Google are predominately left-leaning. Add to that the fact that most news is also on the left and you have a scandal in the making.
Are we seeing a pattern beginning to emerge here yet? If not, please allow me to refresh your memory:

As a result, it is starting to look like a witch-hunt more than it is about the privacy of Facebook users. And it sounds like the left-wing media is trying to lynch President Trump. But only time will tell.
However, that’s not to say that what Cambridge Analytica did wasn’t at least ethically questionable. I believe it was indeed unethical. But on the other hand, I doubt there will be any criminal charges coming out of this mess. Even if you hear rumors of the Federal Trade Commission getting involved.
So again, only time will tell and if there are any legal ramifications, they will fall solely on Facebook. Not on Cambridge Analytica, not on President Trump, nor anyone on his election team. But mark my words, that won’t stop the lefties from lying their asses off to try to get President Trump.
