So it shouldn’t come as a surprise to you that the trend of mobile device shopping continues to grow. Each year the number of mobile device shopper explodes, especially with the Millennials! And if your business cannot be found, those potential buyers are going elsewhere with their money.
Smart devices are everywhere!
But let’s just say that you have a website like most businesses do. My next question then becomes, is your website easy to use on a tablet or smart phone? Have you ever tried to visit your own website using a smart phone or a tablet? How difficult is it to navigate around your website? Do you have to scroll side to side to see all of your content or images? Are you able to click on your navigation without having to zoom-in?
Look, if you have to do anything other than use a thumb or finger to browse your website, you’re losing customers. Let me emphasize that for you – if your website is not mobile-friendly, you’re losing money!
For example, ComScore conducts surveys and captures statistics on people’s online buying habits. In 2013 ComScore states that 68% of Americans (18 -65+) use multiple devices to shop online. In other words, people use a tablet or smart phone to browse or learn more and then return later on a laptop or desktop to buy. By December 2015, the number of Americans using multiple devices to shop grew to 76%! And I’m not even talking about the estimated 5 billion smart phone owners in the world projected by 2019.
But do you really need one?
In a word, absolutely! Also noted in the ComScore study, of the Americans in the 18 – 30 age group, more than 25% used only a smart phone or tablet to do their online shopping. So do you think it’s safe to assume that number will continue to grow over the next 5 or even 10 years? Since we now know that, is it also safe to assume that having a Mobile Friendly Website is pretty damn important too?
