The Power of Video
The Power of Video – 1 Minute Marketing Tips #22. So are you finding it hard to reach Millennials? Did you know that people aged 25 – 34 years old watch the most videos online? Do you use any videos in your marketing and advertising? Why not?

I’ve been saying it since 2008…
Since 2008 or thereabout, Charles (i.e. the Marketing Ninja) has been saying that video is huge and is a powerful marketing tool. In fact, he talked about the effectiveness of video in online advertising here in The Age of Video Marketing – Charles Snyder Raw #62, published back in April 2018.
But you shouldn’t just take his word for it, Facebook, Hootsuite, and WordStream are saying it too.
Just a few stats about Facebook and videos
So here are some interesting facts and figures about videos on Facebook:
- Facebook users look at video 5x longer than they do at static posts
- 30% of mobile shoppers use video to discover new products

Additionally, Millennials (aged 25 – 34 years old) view more videos online than any other age group! According to a study conducted by WordStream.
So now you come back to one of the first questions; are you using any videos in your ads, branding or marketing? If not, do you think it might be time to get started? And if you are using some video, do you feel it might be worth doing more of them?
Harness the Power of Video!
First, all you really need to make videos is a cellphone, a laptop, and an Internet connection. You don’t need expensive equipment, a big production budget or even a camera operator to get started. But you will need some creativity and a clear idea of who you’re trying to reach.
Second, get your face on camera. But you want a good close-up of your face talking about your business and your products or services. Since seeing someone’s facial expressions and eyes begins to build trust. Also, it may take some practice at the beginning, but you will get better at it.
Lastly, switch it up and keep your video interesting. So, in other words, your videos shouldn’t just be a talking head. Use props, use different background locations, motions, etc. to mix it up visually. But always demonstrate value first, no matter what you do.
