I Enjoy Helping Others

Why do I do what I do?  My answer is simple but how I arrived at my reason is not so simple.  As I have said in my other “Why” videos, the journey to my answer is just as important.  So lets start there, my journey to realizing I Enjoy Helping Others and why I do what I do.

Ever since I can remember, I have always had a knack and drive for helping others.  When I was a firefighter, I regularly showed the new firefighters around the fire station, the trucks and the equipment.  The new people were always thankful for someone taking the time to orient them and I liked doing it.  It was a win-win situation for my big boss, the fire chief, so he assigned me to keep at it.

Looking back on my life, I now realize that it is a common theme in everything I have ever done.  I mentored in the fire department, I coached others in karate and I was even teaching as a Disc Jockey.  In fact I am a published author, a public speaker and I am still helping others with my agency.

However, just because I Enjoy Helping Others doesn’t necessarily mean I am any good at it.  Just as making a douchey, expensive car video doesn’t make you any more qualified to teach.  Additionally, I do not think of myself as a marketer so much, because I cannot stand those douchey car videos.  I don’t want to be associated with that crowd, because what I do is measurable and it will always work.

I Enjoy Helping Others, But What Makes Me Different?

So here’s the scoop, what I do and what I teach will always be around.  The only thing that changes is the technology and the tools that I use.  But most importantly, people… business owners see value in my services, my knowledge and my customer services.  Unlike the latest scams and fads, Direct Response Marketing has been around for decades; I’m just using it with social media.  And unlike the “Douchey Car Dudes” I have customers that have been with me for 10+ years.

I Enjoy Helping Others, that’s why I do what I do.
