I Enjoy Helping Others
Why do I do what I do? My answer is simple but how I arrived at my reason is not so simple. As I have said in my other “Why” videos, the journey to my answer is just as important. So lets start there, my journey to realizing I Enjoy Helping Others and why I do what I do.
Ever since I can remember, I have always had a knack and drive for helping others. When I was a firefighter, I regularly showed the new firefighters around the fire station, the trucks and the equipment. The new people were always thankful for someone taking the time to orient them and I liked doing it. It was a win-win situation for my big boss, the fire chief, so he assigned me to keep doing it.
Looking back on those times, I now realize that it is a common theme in everything I have ever done. I mentored in the fire service and I eventually became certified as a Fire Instructor II. I coached others in karate and I was even teaching digital marketing as a Mobile Disc Jockey. In fact I am a published author, a public speaker and I am still helping others today with my agency, C. E. Snyder Marketing LLC.
However, just because I Enjoy Helping Others doesn’t necessarily mean I am any good at it. Just as making a douchey expensive-car video doesn’t make someone else any more qualified to teach. So I always strive to be entertaining while delivering solid value. And I believe my on-going skills development both as a marketer and as an instructor helps.
But What Makes Me Different?
So here’s the scoop – what I do and what I teach will always be around. The only thing that changes is the technology and the tools that we use. But most importantly, people (as in business owners) see real value in my services, my knowledge and my agency. I deliver value first.
Also, I don’t think of myself as a marketer per se because I cannot stand those douchey, expensive-car ads. You know the ads I’m talking about – buy their “proven” system and you’ll be a millionaire over night. I don’t want to be associated with that crowd, because what I do is measurable, it works and I firmly believe in earning someone’s business for life.
