Creating Viral Content

Creating Viral ContentCharles Snyder Raw #125.  So I still find myself somewhere between being sick, not having a voice, and feeling a lot better.  Since last week, my voice has been mostly on vacation and my throat has been feeling like raw ground beef.  But today (actually yesterday when I’m writing this) I feel a lot better and my voice is almost 100% back. Almost.

Speaking of viral things…

Anyway, I want to address a question sent to us from James; here is his original question:

“How [do you] write a viral blog post?”

James R.

So here’s some thoughts

First and foremost “how” you do it is a lot easier said than done.  But one thing that viral posts, images, and videos all share is that they are unique in some way.  They can be funny or shocking, heart-warming, or scary.

However, extremely popular blogs and videos elicit some form of an emotional response that is commonly not seen. Just think about it, almost every viral post has been about someone doing something incredibly stupid or the results are painful.  Or they have been about helping a homeless veteran or overcoming a deadly disease.

Some are inspiring, most of the others, not so much. So Creating Viral Content for your business or blog can be something of a challenge.

Creating Viral Content: some steps to take

First, you need to have a clear understanding of who your target audience is (i.e. customer personas or avatars).  Such as I discuss in:

So be specific, be detailed, and write down your answers on a piece of paper or create a document. Know who your ideal audience is! I’ll be honest with you, that is more than half of the battle.

Secondly, you have to craft a message, image or video that resonates with those target personas or avatars.  Which, as I share in the video several times and mention above, I find it much easier said than done.  But the more you practice, the better you will get at creating content that goes viral.

Lastly, you shouldn’t overlook marketing and promoting your content continuously! So yes, I’m talking about doing some hustling; just remember that all fame is manufactured. But don’t be afraid to spend some money on marketing or hire us to do the marketing for you.

PLEASE NOTE: I no longer answer questions like Creating Viral Content on Quora.  There are no checks and balances in place for the rampant censorship by some moderators.  And to make matters worse, inquiries about the anonymous censorship that goes on there have yet to see any reply.  Since that is the case, I will continue to help others, I just won’t be wasting my time on that website.  So Say Goodbye Quora!
