SEO Without Content

SEO Without Content – Charles Snyder Raw #92.  Every so often, we come across a loaded question and today is no exception. In fact, it may seem fairly harmless on the surface, but Derrick’s lack of understanding has far-reaching ramifications. So I am attempting to help him have a clearer idea about SEO as well as helping you too.

But first, here’s what Derrick wants to know:

“[I’m] wanting to learn Search Engine Optimization (SEO), but I hate [creating] content. I want to help local businesses… but will I have to [create] content for them?”

So here is my quick answer, Derrick; it depends. But if you want to work for small businesses, you will most assuredly be creating content at times. However, if you decide you want to only work on SEO, then you would be better off seeking a position with a larger company.

Setting the record straight

But there was some information being tossed around that in my experiences, amounts to little more than misguided crap.  Or possibly intentionally misguiding, but either way I say they are dead wrong.  Finally, I dive a little deeper into the question and ask a few of my own to get Derrick thinking.

So as I cover in about half of the video, SEO without content is busywork that will produce zero results. In other words, I ask Derrick and everyone else for that matter, what are you optimizing if you don’t have content?

SEO Without Content: reality check

So at the bare minimum, Derrick and others need to have at least a passing understanding of content creation. Because you cannot have one without the other. Search engines go by content, it’s just as simple as that.

Now one thing I forgot to cover in the video is some additional options. For example, if you don’t want to create content and your customers don’t have any, don’t work for them. Or you could always work with someone that loves content creation; form partnerships.

Anyway, in the other half of the video, I discuss some misinformation you received. Since at least one of the answers is patently false, I will just share with you; Google, Yoast, and others recommend a minimum of 300 words for a single post or page. Primary content or “Pillar” content should be at least 900 words minimum.

PLEASE NOTE: I no longer answer questions like SEO Without Content on Quora.  There are no checks and balances in place for the rampant censorship by some moderators.  And to make matters worse, inquiries about the anonymous censorship that goes on there have yet to see any reply.  Since that is the case, I will continue to help others, I just won’t be wasting my time on that website.  So Say Goodbye Quora!
