Perfection Is Deception
Perfection Is Deception – Charles Snyder Raw #20. Today I would like to share my thoughts on the biggest killer of progress. Perfection. So let me be abundantly clear, it is a mental trap at best and little more than an excuse in some cases.
Also, just keep in mind that there is no such thing as perfect. If you keep putting off making a video or a sales call to ‘perfect’ your way to success, it’ll never happen. I have seen it time and again. Hell, I’m guilty of it myself.
Rationalize = Rational-Lies
So what I am getting at here is that you need to just get it done. Pick up your phone and make that video or call that potential lead. Since you’re not going to make the sale just sitting there sulking about it. Just do it!
In other words, I am talking about taking imperfect action to gain some traction. And start gaining momentum with your business as well as hitting your sales goals. Additionally, the first step is always the hardest one to take, but it gets easier.
I cover this in some detail in my previous article and video, Take Imperfect Action – Charles Snyder Raw #10. But like I say in that installment, you have to make shit happen! #MakeShitHappen! Because it’s not going to magically finish on its own.
Perfection Is Deception and it’s a lie
So let me tell you a quick personal story. When I first made the decision to focus entirely on digital marketing, I suffered from trying to make things perfect. My agency website sucked, my videos were horrible and it would take me a week or more to create another video. I was stressing out!
Also, the entire time I hated putting any content out. My desire was that they look and feel professional, but my skills weren’t up to the task. As a result, I barely did anything and I made very little content.
However, my coach and my friends encouraged me to just get stuff done anyway. So it took me a few abortive attempts, but I eventually realized that I was only telling myself lies. Once I admitted that the videos and articles began to flow much easier.
