Marketing Agency Red Flags

Marketing Agency Red FlagsCharles Snyder Raw #130.  So today I am reaching back into the mailbag and taking another question from our growing audience.  And I think it’s a pretty good question too because I haven’t seen very many people talking about this.

Marketing Agency Red Flags - Charles Snyder Raw #130: It's unscripted, unplanned and uncooked!

Heed these three warning signs!

Here’s today’s original question from Jeff:

“What are some red flags when dealing with a marketing agency?”

Jeff Z.

If it sounds too good to be true…

Thank you for the question, Jeff!  First, let me say that there are a lot of potential red flags when dealing with a marketing agency.  In fact, more than you can shake a stick at. So I am going to share with you several high-priority questions to ask yourself.

You will need to do your research and the more familiar you are with the terminology, the better.  In other words, the responsibility is on you to do your due diligence. But always remember to trust your gut instinct; if something doesn’t add up or it just doesn’t feel right – it is probably a good idea to avoid doing business with them.

Top 3 Warning Signs It May Be A Scam!

So here are some critical points to consider any time you are thinking about hiring a marketing agency:

  1. Does the marketing agency practice what they want you to pay them for?  WordStream has been conducting surveys of marketing agencies for the past few years.  Surprisingly, the results of those surveys show that most agencies spend less than 25% of their time finding new customers.  However, the majority of those agencies (76%) are worried about having enough income to stay open for business.  Can you say a huge red flag?
  2. Is the marketing agency able to provide solid facts and figures to back up their hype?  Men lie, women lie, but numbers always tell the truth.  So any marketer that avoids them also deserves to be avoided.  There’s more to the truth than just Cost Per Click and Cost Per Lead or getting a lot of likes and shares on social media. Ask them to show you the proof!
  3. Does the marketing agency have a domain-based email?  ImmaDaBestestMarketer@Yahooey.con-artist = FAIL! I can’t tell you how many emails we get every day from so-called “professionals” that are using Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and even AOL accounts. I’m extremely skeptical of anyone that approaches us like this – I mean who the hell even uses AOL any more?!

Marketing Agency Red Flags: final thoughts

I mention even more Marketing Agency Red Flags in the video. Because marketing effectively is more than just boosting posts on Facebook for likes and shares. So think of it this way, when was the last time you were able to deposit or pay bills with a few hundred likes?

Check out the video below and be sure to leave your comments in the section below. Have you ever been ripped off after ignoring the warnings signs or your gut instincts?
