Being Shy Means Being Broke – My Personal Brand #2. So today I am going to open up and share painful memories with you. Not that I really want to, but I know it has a valuable lesson. One that I know will help some of you, especially those of you that fear making videos and public speaking.

However, while I am sharing this story with you, I want you to remember one thing. Being shy or having a fear of being on camera or in front of an audience is not going to make you any money. Here’s the way I think of it; if I hold back because of fear, I’m denying others the benefits of my skills, experiences, etc.

And that is essentially being selfish. But here are some additional thoughts I’ve had on being shy and fear, Shyness Doesn’t Make Money – Charles Snyder Raw #58.

I used to be shy

When I was growing up, going to school, I was shy. Painfully shy. So I didn’t have many friends, I didn’t get many dates and my Junior year of high school, I almost didn’t have a date to go to Prom Night with. I hated it!

Then there were the girls that I had crushes on, but I never dared to talk to many of them, much less ever ask them out. There were Dawn and Staci at the swimming pool one summer, my God they both looked amazing in bikinis. There was also Cindi, Sherri, and Shelly, all three in my class, all very beautiful gals, but I never once had the courage to tell them.

So there was also Kim, who sat behind me in Algebra class. She, in particular, I really liked. Kim’s smile and her laugh always gave me butterflies in my tummy. She helped my boring days of school go by so much better. But do you think I ever grew the cajones to ask her out?

However, Being Shy Means Being Broke

So maybe you can identify with some of my pain. Because I’m not just talking about selling or making money here. Since being shy can affect every aspect of your life. Not just how many sales you make.

For example, going back to the girls that caught my attention in high school, I never got any dates with them because I never asked. I was too busy worrying if they would reject me that I never found one way or the other. Since my awkward teen years, my biggest regret has been never trying.
