Since I began creating websites in 1996, I have seen a lot of changes. I’ve also seen some things that work and some things that don’t. One such thing that trips up a lot of business owners is thinking that just because they have a website, people will give them money.
But in the real world, it doesn’t work that way. Think about it, before there was the Internet if you were looking for a painter, you asked around. You went to family and friends who may know someone that did good work for them in the past. However, you probably didn’t just walk up to someone on the street, and hand them a few thousand dollars out of the blue.
No that wouldn’t be very smart, people asked for referrals. As a result, today people look at Google and Amazon for product and service reviews. So if you don’t have any or they’re 5+ years old, potential customers go elsewhere because they won’t trust you.
