Winking In The Dark
Winking In The Dark – Charles Snyder Raw #81. Since the response has been great, we decided to take another question from our audience. So the feedback I’ve been seeing is almost all positive; people love getting answers custom-tailored to their situation. And to be honest, I like doing it!

Pixel me this…
So first, here is the original question sent to us:
“How can Facebook Pixel improve my online marketing efforts [with] my online store?”

WTF is a “Facebook Pixel”
So today’s episode is me talking about Facebook Pixel and how it can improve your marketing efforts. But to be honest, I believe that Google Pixel and other tracking codes can be just as helpful too. In other words, if you are marketing on Google and/or YouTube, the Google Pixel is a must-have, just like Facebook Pixel is for ads on Facebook and Instagram.
Anyway, I try to help people understand that without Facebook Pixel, you’re driving with your eyes closed. You’re flying blind or shooting while blindfolded. So if you are running ads on Facebook, it’s a really good idea to use the Facebook Pixel.
Facebook Pixel Definition
So here is my short-short definition of what a ‘pixel’ is. Simply, it is a small piece of code that you insert into your website, blog, landing pages, etc. to track what people do. Since Facebook, Google, and many others know a lot about your web browsing and shopping habits, a pixel tracks your web browsing behaviors. Not who you are or your bank account numbers.
Smart marketers, like me, use this information to build audiences and put specific ads in front of specific buyers. For example, if I am marketing a service made for men over the age of 40, it’s a waste of time, money, and effort showing the same ad to women in the 20s. Pretty cool, huh?!
Winking In The Dark, an analogy
But here’s another one of my favorite analogies that may help you understand the concept of using one or more pixels. For example, if you see the most attractive woman of your life and you’re itching to meet her; do you wink at her when the lights are out? If you did, the only person that would ever know you threw a wink her way would be you.
So the same goes for running online ads; if you are winking at the wrong audience, no one cares if they see you winking or not. Pixels help you to wink at the people that WANT to see you winking! Get it?
