Facebook Frenzy Flashback
Facebook Frenzy Flashback
Facebook Frenzy Flashback – Charles Snyder Raw #84. So while I was sitting here this afternoon, trying to think about a topic for today’s video. Since we have been getting a ton of requests from our audience on Quora, it wasn’t long before I looked there. And it wasn’t long before this one caught my attention.
It’s deja vu!
Someone on Quora asked what the deal was with Facebook and his dwindling reach for posts. I even made this article and video, Facebook Kills Organic Reach – 5 Minutes With Charles #40 back in January. I mean news about Facebook has been all over TV, radio and all over the Internet for months.
Anyway, here is the original request sent to us:
“Has Facebook made yet another update to screw over businesses? My post reach is painfully low all of a sudden and I don’t know why?”
Robert D.
Why I’m not worrying about it
So to be honest with you; I’m not overly worried about the new policy. In fact, I believe it’s a good thing because now with a few bucks and a good ad, you don’t have to fight to be seen. Facebook is now pay-to-play as I feel it should be. Since most “gurus” are only spamming news feeds with mediocre content, I at least will appreciate about 15,000 less notifications on a daily basis.
Anyway, the only way I see a workaround for this is as follows:
- Build your following and get more fans that subscribe to your business page, etc.
- Produce better content that people actually want to see, like and share with their friends.
- Promote your content with some simple paid advertising on Facebook.
Facebook Frenzy Flashback: pay attention
So unless you’ve been living on a desert island for the past year, with no Internet, phone, radio or TV, this shouldn’t be a surprise. Facebook, for several months before, has been saying that organic reach is going away. It’s not like someone at FB woke up one morning thinking of new ways to screw over small businesses.
The reality is that thousands of so-called gurus making tens of thousands of weak posts got the ball rolling. So the average FB user was bombarded by as many as 15,000 uninteresting posts per day! Maybe the better question is, how much spam does it take for you to complain about something?
PLEASE NOTE: I no longer answer questions like Facebook Frenzy Flashback on Quora. There are no checks and balances in place for the rampant censorship by some moderators. And to make matters worse, inquiries about the anonymous censorship that goes on there have yet to see any reply. Since that is the case, I will continue to help others, I just won’t be wasting my time on that website. So Say Goodbye Quora!
