Digital Disaster Recovery
Digital Disaster Recovery – Charles Snyder Raw #136. Have you ever had one of “those” kind of days? What I mean is one of those days where you do something or don’t do something and it has serious repercussions. And then you spend a day or more trying to clean up the mess you just made.

It was one of “those” kinds of days…
So Wednesday turned out to be one of “those” kinds of days for me. Since getting to work in the morning, I spent nearly 10 hours doing some research on my agency’s website. Specifically, I was looking at our 404 Errors that occurred since 1 January 2019. Generally speaking, it was a good exercise as I found several broken links on our website.
But then I deleted everything!
The whole process took much longer than I was expecting because I found that there were 1,300+ hacking attempts made against us. So then I was in up to my eyebrows checking our security and banning repeat offenders from our web assets. For me, Wednesday was a very long, very tiring and incredibly tedious day.
Anyway, the whole purpose of this exercise in futility started with the concept of Marketing Plumbing and our website. Such as I covered in the videos as well as articles Marketing Plumbing and Marketing Plumbing Updates. So right now I’ll just confess that it didn’t work out that way.
I’m not sure why I decided to do a little “house cleaning” with my videos, but during that I deleted the Charles Snyder Raw folder. Every video, every article, everything was deleted and I clicked to empty the “Recycle Bin” before it dawned on me what I just did.
Digital Disaster Recovery: that sick feeling
So once I realized what happened, I felt extremely sick in the stomach! And I was wanting to bang my head against the wall. Repeatedly.
Since I had already emptied the “Recycle Bin” without double-checking, the quick and easy method of recovering those files was not an option. At 1 AM on Thursday morning, I made it my mission to recover those files. I discuss what I did and the free tool I found to make it happen, in the video. But not before I was up all night working the problem I had created.
So much for getting proper sleep again and getting this published on time. But I did save those articles and videos.
