Be Entertaining – Charles Snyder Raw #21. So let’s face one fact together. When you post to social media, don’t be like most other businesses. What I mean by that is posting boring, vanilla, ho-hum content. Boring will kill your social media game quicker than Mike Tyson gnaws off ears when he wants a snack.

Are you not entertained?
Since the humble beginnings of social media, people use it to relax and to find entertainment. But if you’re content isn’t attention-grabbing or at least mildly interesting, you’re going to be ignored. People will simply scroll right past you and look for the next shiny distraction.
Smooth advice from a rough Gladiator
In the movie Gladiator, the character Maximus Decimus Meridius, is a meat-cleaving beast! He comes out like Mikey Tyson, kills the competition in less than 30 seconds and there is silence. People in the crowd were like wait a minute; I skipped my mind-numbing job for the day, I’m gonna get whipped for it and I had to pay to see this?!
The crowd began booing and Maximus was like, no you guys wait; you blood-thirsty dough-heads came here to see death. So I delivered just that in record time. That was when he confronted them and bellowed, “Are you not entertained?!”
The people in the crowd thought about it briefly and then they went nuts cheering. It was something to the effect of “Maximus is cool and he doesn’t take any bullshit, yay Maximus!” And then they all lived happily ever after.
The moral of the story is Be Entertaining!
OK, that’s not exactly how the movie goes, but did you catch what I did there? I actually did several things with that story. So first I kept it brief and I painted a picture that most of you are familiar with. Secondly, added some of my own personality in the form of my dry wit, etc. Last but not least, I used it to illustrate my whole point; to be interesting.
Of course, not everyone appreciates my sense of humor. So what. As a result, the people that enjoy my content and my sense of humor are going to love this and the ones that don’t, well too bad for them.
