Know your niche!

My super-duper secret-secret is that there is no secret! Seriously.

So look, knowing your audience is 80% of the battle. Knowing who your target audience is and some specifics about them makes it a lot easier to create ads that sell. But first, you have to define who you are trying to reach and help with your products or services. Just like we covered in the last two installments of this series:

Since we already covered that pretty good, the next step is to put yourself in their shoes. Feel their pain and fix it!

Problems and solutions

It’s a little exercise that I like to think of as pain and pain relief. You can call it whatever, but the concept is simple; think about what problems your target has and solve them. So all you have to do is think about a pain they have and how your business products or services solve that problem.

Problems and solutions to those problems using your products or services. But you have to really dig down three or four layers into the pain. When you are able to do that, then you will definitely get people’s attention. This is how you resonate with your intended audience.

Finally, we take that pain and the pain relief you prescribe, craft a story around it and BAM! You got your winning ad. So your story can be a personal one or better yet, one of your customers. Get creative with it, but keep it short and to the point.

A word or two of encouragement

Last but not least, let me offer you a few words of encouragement and wisdom. Crafting winning ads takes practice, patience, and it is a lot of work. But it’s a lot less work when you know who you are trying to reach.

So don’t get discouraged and don’t give up. Keep plugging away at it and you’ll discover that it works so much better than your typical boring advertisements!
